Cable in the Classroom and Kijana Voices have entered into a partnership to develop and pilot an innovative national media literacy program.

Kijana Voices has embarked on a major initiative to establish a 21st century school in the West African country of Liberia.

Kijana Voices has received funding from the Verizon Corporation to provide 10,000 seventh grade students in California's Central Valley with the opportunity to become nationally certified in technology literacy using the TechYES program. (more details).

"My goal as a young boy has been to obtain a medical degree from a United States University, and return to my home community to establish a health clinic in Narayi Kaduna, Nigeria and in neighboring communities." Kijana Voices has established a scholarship fund for Gabe "The Gabriel Ologun Education Fund"; all funds received for Gabe's education are passed on directly to SUNY Albany in its entirety for Gabe's tuition and college expenses. Kijana Voices worked with the International Interactive Community Access Network (IICAN) to help them create a website. Students in their organization maintain the site. IICAN's mission is to use technology to decrease the achivement gap for k-20 students of color in collaboration with Tacoma/South Puget Sound Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement Program (MESA) along with community and faith-based organizations. Partnering with Community Youth Services (www.communityyouthservices.org) in Olympia Washington, Kijana Voices planned, delivered and evaluated a nine-week course for Mentoring Technology Service students. These students were all at-risk teenagers. The students learned how to both use and teach computer technology in order to teach senior citizens at local senior and youth centers how to use computers.

Academic Mentor Program (AMP)

AMP is a program created by Community Youth Services and Kijana Voices. Student participants learn leadership and communication skills necessary to help mentor youth in basic language arts and math needs.

Teacher Training Workshops

Kijana Voices and The After School Corporation (TASC) partnered to design a full-day workshop for New York City teachers entitled "Students and Adults Partnering for Success." The workshop teaches site-level personnel how to involve young people in meaningful ways at every level of capability. Participants learn practical ways that students can be taught to contribute to the overall success of any after-school program.
